Karachi: The post-mortem of a young boy named Saram, whose body was found in an underground water tank near his house, has been completed at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

According to Police Surgeon Dr. Samia Syed, marks of injuries have been seen on different parts of the child’s body. Samples have been collected for further analysis but the exact cause of death will be determined after the chemical analysis report.

After Saram’s body was found, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Sindh Assembly member Abdul Waseem visited the apartment building where the incident took place.

His arrival sparked outrage among residents, especially women, who accused him of exploiting the tragedy for political gain. Angry residents also slammed the apartment union for its alleged negligence.

In response to the backlash, Abdul Waseem expressed solidarity with Saram’s grieving family, and acknowledged their anger was justified.

The police failed to find their child for several days. The truth of what happened will come out only through investigation. I stand with the family in their grief,” he added.

The tragic incident has sparked calls for accountability and a thorough investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding Saram’s death.

Last week, it was reported that the police had failed to trace the whereabouts of the child who went missing from North Karachi on January 7.

Seven-year-old Saram went missing from Bilal Colony police limits. Saram, who is a student of Madrasah al-Qur’an, went to his madrasah on January 7, but did not return.

His father Parvez went to the seminary and asked about his son. The management said that their son had left for home at 3.40 pm.

Parvez was returning from the seminary when suddenly he saw Saram’s gloves lying on the stairs inside the mosque.
