Islamabad: According to social media posts by advanced officials, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif will take prominent businessmen into confidence in reforms in the proposed power sector as the federal government is ready to announce a “major relief package” on Thursday (tomorrow).
Former caretaker Minister for Industry and Commerce Gohar Ejaz will lead a delegation delegation who will meet with the Prime Minister.
During the meeting with the Prime Minister’s traders, a significant cut in electricity prices is expected, while the meeting also has a breakthrough on exports and other economic issues.
According to government officials, the meeting has been scheduled in the Prime Minister’s Secretariat at 2 pm.
Meanwhile, the government posted on its official X account on Wednesday that the “great news for the entire nation” will be unveiled Thursday (tomorrow), without providing any details about the announcement. The hashtag in this post was ‘Chhota Eid, Great Gift’, citing Eidol Flat.
Meanwhile, the ruling Muslim League number posted that Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif will make an important announcement tomorrow, while a separate post states that he will “give people a big gift from the federal government”.
However, Premier Assistant Rana Sanaullah has written on X that the Prime Minister will announce a major relief package tomorrow that will “thwart Pakistan’s already default plot”.
“Stock market rally, rise in remittances, and decrease inflation – the propaganda of frustration will end!” The Prime Minister’s adviser maintained.
Defense Minister Khawaja Asif also posted about tomorrow’s announcement, and “Good News … which will be the result of Allah’s grace since 2022”.
He did not specify what was being announced.
“This journey of development, development and economic recovery will continue,” he added.
On March 26, Prime Minister Shahbaz’s team issued a new $ 1.3 billion arrangement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), as well as a successful 37 -month bailout program.
The IMF revealed in March that it has allowed only one re -reduction per unit in electricity prices against grid levy imposed on industrial captive plants.
“This program allows some clear tariff discrimination subsidy and income from CPP (captive power plants).
“Everyone will benefit from prices,” said an IMF resident in Islamabad Maheer Beni.
The move is part of a broader relief package that the government is working for electricity users.
According to official sources, the reduction can reduce the financial burden on consumers to Rs 100 billion.
