LHC orders electric vehicle charging facilities at fuel stations

Lahore: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday ordered to ensure the availability of charging facilities from electric vehicles at all fuel stations to tackle the smog problem.

According to the details, Justice Shahid Karim of the Lahore High Court expressed dissatisfaction over the lack of effective measures during the hearing of smog and environmental pollution.

Due to the deteriorating water situation, the court announced the emergency of the water and directed the installation of water meters. The LHC also ordered the Lahore Development Authority to introduce a tax relief policy for environmentally friendly buildings.

The PHA was ordered to restore the canal water and submit a report at the next hearing. The LDA and the DHA were also instructed to set up at least one Maiwaki forest in every sector.

The court emphasized that the government must introduce a converting plan to convert petrol -powered rickshaws into electrons.

Expressing his displeasure over the poor performance of WASA, Justice Shahid Karim remarked that there was no significant progress in the installation of the water meter.

The court adjourned the hearing on various petitions related to smog control till March 21.

At the last hearing on February 28, the Lahore High Court (LHC) directed the traffic wardens to accelerate the supply of health allowance.

Appreciating effective traffic management through wardens, the LHC judge ordered a speeding processing of health allowances for traffic wardens and instructed the authorities to establish their service structure without delay. In addition, the court directed the authorities to set up parking stands under a public private partnership model.
