- Expressing satisfaction at the current pace of Pakistan-Azerbaijan bilateral cooperation
Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif on Friday formed a special task force headed by himself to deal with human trafficking syndicates active in the country.
While presiding over the review meeting regarding measures to prevent human trafficking in Pakistan, Prime Minister Shehbaz expressed his determination to bring the criminals involved in human trafficking to justice.
The Prime Minister urged all concerned ministries, including the Ministry of External Affairs, to actively participate in the identification of people smugglers so as to speed up the arrest of those involved in this crime.
Prime Minister Shehbaz said that he and other parts of the country were saddened by the tragic death of Pakistanis in the illegal immigration boat.
Prime Minister Shehbaz was briefed about the organizations responsible for the deaths of Pakistanis in the illegal migrant boat incident, the arrests made by the Pakistani authorities, the FIRs registered and the next steps.
The meeting was informed that 6 organized human trafficking gangs were identified, 12 FIRs were registered, 25 persons were identified, three prime suspects were arrested and 16 persons were added to the passport control list.
The meeting was also briefed regarding confiscation of vehicles, bank accounts and assets.
The meeting was also updated about the actions taken against the suspected officials and officers of FIA. Apart from this, the report of the overseas investigation committee was also informed.
The Prime Minister directed that human trafficking gangs should be identified and punished severely.
Federal Ministers Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Azam Nazir Tarar, Ahad Khan Cheema, Attaullah Tarar, Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi and other senior officials participated in the meeting.
Defense Industry Minister of Azerbaijan met with the Prime Minister
Defense Industry Minister Vogar Mustafayev of the Republic of Azerbaijan met Prime Minister Mohammad Shahbaz Sharif here on Friday.
A news release from the Prime Minister’s Office said that during the meeting, both sides expressed their common commitment to strengthen and diversify relations between Pakistan and Azerbaijan.
The Prime Minister expressed satisfaction at the current pace of bilateral cooperation in all areas of mutual interest, especially trade, energy, investment and defence.
The Defense Industry Minister thanked the Prime Minister for the warm hospitality extended to him and his delegation by Pakistan.
Vogar Mustafayev is visiting Pakistan to co-chair the 8th meeting of the Joint Ministerial Commission between Pakistan and Azerbaijan, which is being held on 23-24 January 2025 in Islamabad.
